Are squirrel and chipmunk pets legal in the Netherlands?

I would very much like to have a squirrel or a chipmunk. Are they legal?Are squirrel and chipmunk pets legal in the Netherlands?
I have definitely seen them available in pet stores in the Netherlands-- that being said they may still require a special license or something.





From the experience of my father, who had pet squirrel growing up, they aren't always the best of pets to have. They are difficult to domesticate and can be prone to biting/scratching. If domesticated properly, they're lovely, but not at all as cuddly like they may look like they would be. You should definitely do a good bit of research before taking one home!
