How do I kill a chipmunk?

Are there ways to kill family of chipmunks in my patio?

Would a cat do it? I have a 22 rifle but they are small and fast. How do I kill a chipmunk?
First of all, Chipmunks are rather innovative and intelligent as you are already aware of, this means they may be very difficult to convince to move on. Killing really isn't the answer as another family may move in so it's much better to use a deterrent.

First try one of those animal sprays that keeps dogs and cats off of furniture and plants, according to the family that may work, but be prepared to have them move somewhere else around your property.

Next, you may try borrowing or baby sitting a dog for a while, one of the smaller varieties may work, and I recommend a terrier of one sort or another. You may not like the barking at first but neither will the chipmunks:)

Your cat idea may work, but... according to the cat, they may become friends.

Last resort would be a humane rodent catch system such as those used for pack rats and such. Just make sure you turn them out far enough away, and try to remember they are a family and the young may not survive without the mother or other members.

Perhaps a wire rabbit cage to store them in until you catch them all-just remember, they are not pets and will be wild.

Good luck

I'll tell you how to kill those pesky little critters.Get a 5 gallon bucket and fill it 2/3 full with water.Cover the water with sunflower seeds.Place a board from the ground to the edge of the bucket and sprinkle sunflower seeds on the board. They will jump in like lemmings. Killed 45 in 24 hrs!

OMG Immortal, call animal warden on a chipmunk, why not call some body to relocate ants or flies,or maybe a moth.

Some people don't use the brains they were born with.

If you have a cat just leave cat put on patio and he/she will clear them out for you.
woooow....poor little critters :( . . . poor you. but isnt it better to call a animal control place..? maybe relocate them. Every animal is essential to the each ecosystem...have tht in mind. so have yours and their interests in mind..please :)
If you put out a bowl of dry cat food and a bowl of water you'll get the ferals and strays coming over. They'll take out any chipmunk and mouse in the area, guaranteed.
if you want to kill a chipmunk you should get a smart cat that kills and that will do it i have two cats and they kill rats, chipmunks and everthing.
You could try buying one of those humane traps and catching them, then transporting them to a forested area far from your house.
call animal control ... it doesn't cost anything .. better than wasting bullets trying to hit them
get a shotgun or grenade. watch caddyshack.
